LL.M One Year Postgraduate Programme

The duration of the course shall be one academic year, divided into two semesters and Consisting of 36 weeks i.e. semesters First and second (Of 18 weeks each). The course shall be for whole time students. There shall be 10 papers (5 Papers in First semester & 4 Papers and one dissertation in second semester)

The examination for the 1st semester shall ordinarily be held in the month of December/January and for the 2nd semester in the month of May/June on such dates as may be notified by the Controller of Examinations of the LTSU Punjab

A supplementary examination for the 1st semester shall be held along with the IInd semester. However, the supplementary examination for the IInd semester shall be held after one month of the declaration of result.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

• Admission to one year- LL.M. Program shall be done through on merit based on the recommendation of admission committee headed by Dean Law.

• The University has a right to keep the seats vacant if there are no candidates found suitable. Candidates awaiting results of the qualifying examination cannot be allowed to be admitted in the LL.M one-year program however the candidates will be permitted with the prior approval of competent authority.

• The total number of seats will be 120 i.e. (60+60). The rules of reservation of the Punjab Government will be applicable accordingly.

• 25% seats over and above of the sanctioned seats are reserved for Foreign National Category and allotted to International students. These seats are exclusively for students holding foreign passports and having a valid visa.

• The vacant seats under Foreign National Category shall not be filled with other then international students.

The detailed eligibility conditions e.g. percentage of marks in the qualifying examinations, subject(s) combination etc. shall be notified in the Admission Brochure, as approved by the Academic Council from time to time. Candidates placed under compartment in the qualifying examination shall not be eligible for admission

Eligibility for Admission

• To be eligible to appear for admission to One year- LL.M. Programme, a candidate should have passed the LL.B or an equivalent degree from a recognised University with not less than 50% marks in aggregate (45% in case of reserved categories, i.e. SC/ST/Persons with Disability).

• The admission for Foreign Nationals shall be made on the basis of:
  (i) academic record of LL.B. or equivalent Degree recognized by UGC/ Association of Indian Universities with not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade.
  (ii) assessment of necessary communication skills in written and spoken English
