At Lamrin Tech Skills University (LTSU), we take pride in nurturing innovation and technical excellence from the very first year of our students' academic journey. This vision was vividly brought to life on March 29, 2025, as a team of first-year B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering students from the University School of Engineering and Technology (USET) secured second place at INNOVISION ’25, a premier inter-university technology competition hosted by Chitkara University, Rajpura.

The competition witnessed participation from some of the most talented young minds across the region, engaging in a series of three challenging rounds that tested their creativity, technical acumen, and problem-solving abilities. INNOVISION ’25 brought together sharp, dynamic students from premier institutions all over India, turning the event into a true battleground of innovation and intellect. Amid this highly competitive atmosphere, the LTSU team stood out with their pioneering project titled “Automating Data Entry and Analysis with Optical Character Recognition (OCR)”.

The journey, however, was not without its challenges. As first-year students, the team had to familiarize themselves with complex tools and advanced concepts, including OCR frameworks, image processing, and data handling techniques. Their path was marked by intense research, numerous iterations, and the resolve to overcome technical glitches through trial and error.

Academic responsibilities ran parallel with the competition timeline, making time management a crucial skill the students had to master. Moreover, presenting a technical solution to an expert jury demanded clear and confident communication, which they developed under the mentorship of dedicated faculty members.

Through this rigorous experience, the team not only honed their technical skills but also learned critical lessons in collaboration, adaptability, and professional presentation. They emerged more confident and industry-ready, having translated a theoretical concept into a practical, impactful solution.
