Interactive awareness session “Nutrition for Mothers & Children"
The NSS Unit of the University College of Nursing organized an interactive awareness session at Government High School, Asron, engaging women and students of the adopted village on the theme “Nutrition for Mothers & Children.” The session was conducted under the guidance of Program Officer Ms. Deepti, along with a dedicated team of NSS volunteers.
During the session, the importance of proper nutrition in early brain development was emphasized, particularly across the different trimesters of pregnancy. The volunteers effectively used informative charts and models to make the concepts easy to understand and relatable for the participants.
In addition to nutrition, the session also addressed the impact of screen time on students. The volunteers explained both the advantages and disadvantages of excessive screen use and encouraged students to adopt healthier habits. They motivated them to engage in physical activities, spend quality time with family and society, and reduce the habit of excessive scrolling on mobile devices.
Ms. Ratan Kaur, Assistant Director Youth Services, along with Ms. Archana, also interacted with the pregnant women of the village. They guided them on maternal health and distributed immunization schedules for different trimesters, ensuring better awareness regarding timely vaccinations.
The session was highly interactive and informative, leaving a positive impact on both women and students by promoting awareness about health, nutrition, and a balanced lifestyle.
